Shark Tank is one of my favorite TV shows. The premise is that business owners/inventors pitch their ideas to 5 “sharks,” who are all millionaires or billionaires, with the hope of getting funding to take their ideas to the next level.

It’s an educational and fun show for everyone, especially if you love business/entrepreneurship/negotiating.

You can watch the latest episodes on Hulu.

People often want overnight success because we usually only hear the end of a success story. You rarely hear of the hours someone puts in, the obstacles they overcame, or the sacrifices they made to get to where they are at today. Success, however you want to define it, is a process, not an event.

I decided to move over to WordPress. Check it out!

Qualities companies look for in candidates

I plan to graduate in June 2012, so I’ve begun my job search by attending various companies’ info sessions. I want to share with you a few qualities that they look for in candidates:

Accenture - teamwork. In addition to rocking at what you do individually, can you work well with other people as a (cross-functional) team?

Intel - take risks. Have fun.

Wells Fargo - this wasn’t an official Wells Fargo event but the guy who spoke stressed the importance of networking instead of just submitting your resume and having it disappear into a black hole. It’s easier to get in through the back door.

I’m not writing this to give you insight into what each company is specifically looking for but to share with you the qualities we should all have and the things we need to do.
